Joining Our School

  • Joining at the start of Reception & Years 1 to 6

    Parents wishing to apply for a place for their child in one of our Reception classes or in a class in Years One to Six, please visit the Cambridgeshire Local Authority’s School Admissions website.


    This includes a new school catchment search facility so that you can find out if you are living in our school’s catchment area (although you do not need to be in catchment to apply).


    You can also apply for a place online.

We primarily serve the catchment area of the Parish of Bury, but also welcome applicants from further afield on religious grounds. Please download our Admissions Policy for full guidelines. The Local Governing Body (LGB) of Bury School is the admission authority for the School. The LGB sets and applies the admissions policy for the School. All decisions regarding the admission of children into the School are made by a sub-committee of the LGB.


How to apply
The application process for admissions into Year Reception (initial year of entry) is co-ordinated by the Local Authority (LA), which acts on behalf of the Governing Body to offer places at the School. Parents should apply via the Cambridgeshire Local Authority School Admissions website.  Offers will be processed by the LA.  Late applications will be handled by the Admissions Team.

To apply for a place after the start of the school year, or for any other year group, please contact the LA Admissions Team via the In-Year Admissions section of the website. The application must be returned to the LA Admissions Team (via the website) who will then contact your preferred schools to determine the availability of a school place.
